The hour pillar is the children's pillar, therefore if there are favourable stars in the hour pillar it is indicating have good children and old age should be quite smooth right? how about when the HS of the hour pillar has negative star and the EB has positive star what does that mean??

Good children depend on the children stars and no alone on the hour pillar. Favorable stars at hour pillar in general means good life at older age - in general because you need confirmation from your Ta Yun. When mix stars at hour pillar then you will have to look at the overall picture at the later Ta Yun to see your older age.
