Dear Master, I have read that if we have two houses next to each other, and we want to make them become one, then the new build house's top can not be taller than the old one, is it true? What happen if we don't make them become one, So they are still different houses but belong to the same person, say my houses... , am buiding the next door with the top higher than my current one, is it ok? They have their own entry door. Thanks :-)

No it is not true. If you do not make them into one, make sure they are separated and have two entries. If internally they are joint into one bigger house then having two doors is not good; having one old door is also not auispicious as it usally will be out of balance; you will need to relocate one door and make it bigger. HIgher roof is ok but usally it will be better if left house's roof is higher than the right house. Cheers. * Amended on 7/8/2012 at 22:07pm |

Thanks Master... but i still don't understand by your anwwer ' It will be better if left higher"? My old house is on the left if am facing the street, the new build is on the right. So you mean my old house is better wth the roof higher? So after the new build is done, i can re renovate the old house with higher roof than the new one? Yes i make them 2 separate building, with their own entry door. Thanks again Master.

HIgher roof is fine but usally it will be better if left house's roof is higher than the right house. Since you are renovating why not make the roof at the same height? Cheers. |
