What is House Facing?

House facing refers to the direction your house faces, usually determined by the orientation of the main entrance. It is a key factor in Feng Shui as it affects how Qi (energy) flows into your home.

House facing is measured using a compass (Luo Pan or magnetic compass) in degrees. It is based on the main entrance, not the side of the house or street view. For example:

How to Measure House Facing

Step 1: Stand at your main door

Face outwards, away from the house (toward the street).

Step 2: Use a compass

Use a magnetic compass or smartphone compass app and record the degree where the door faces (0–360°).

Step 3: Determine the compass direction

Divide 360° into 8 main directions (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW) and each direction is further divide into 3 sectors total 24 mountains for Flying Star Feng Shui. For example:

  1. South S1 157.6-172.5° S1 S1 157.6°-172.5°
  2. South S2 172.6-187.5° S2 S2 172.6°-187.5°
