BaZi of Empress Dowager Cixi powerful but no ability

Empress Dowager Cixi 慈禧太后 born 29 November 1835 was a Manchu noblewoman of the Yehe Nara clan who effectively controlled the Chinese government in the late Qing ynasty as empress dowager and regent for almost 50 years, from XingYou 辛酉1861 until her death in 1908.

Now let’s take a look at her BaZi Four Pillars.

Yi 乙 wood born in the month of Hai 亥 water, looking at the surface this looks like a weak Yi 乙wood daymaster. After carefully evaluating all the combinations the same gangs of water and wood are slightly stronger making this a strong Yi 乙wood daymaster.

There are strong 劫比 wood, strong 伤食 fire and strong 7 killings 七杀 metal. Here bad wood produces good fire and good fire suppress good metal. This 伤食 fire is the Eating Gods 食神 and the 7 killings 七杀 metal is the 杀 7 killings. This is where we called as 食神制殺 EatingGod control 7 killing. With suppression where is the auspiciousness?

Empress Dowager Cixi was known for her ability to read and write Chinese. This skill granted her numerous opportunities to help the ailing emperor in the governing of the Chinese state on a daily basis. On various occasions, Xianfeng Emperor had Empress Dowager Cixi read palace memorials for him and leave instructions on the memorials according to his will.

1857. Starting from 1857, at the age of 23, Cixi slowly became well-informed about state affairs and the art of governing.

1861. Emperor Xianfeng died on 22 August 1861 at the Chengde Mountain Resort in Rehe Province. By the time of Xianfeng's death, Empress Dowager Cixi had become a political strategist. This was when Empress Dowager Cixi started to "rule from behind the curtains" or "listen to politics behind the curtains" (垂簾聽政). Cixi became the only empress dowager in the Qing dynasty to assume the role of regent, ruling from behind the curtains.

For the next 50 years, her most Useful Ten Gods was either weak or totally disappeared.

She got power but without the ability to rule. This is the typical BaZi Four Pillars of Destiny.

1894.In 1894, Cixi celebrated her 60th birthday with lavish celebrations taking funds which were planned for military and future plans. In 1894, the First Sino-Japanese War 甲午战争broke out over Korea whose age-old allegiance to Beijing was wavering. After the decisive victory and ensuing Treaty of Shimonoseki, Japan annexed Taiwan from Qing China. This was a humiliating defeat.
