Sarah Jane Hyland most popularly known for playing the character of Haley Dunphy on the ABC sitcom Modern Family. Sarah Hyland was born in New York City to actors Melissa D. Canaday and Edward James Hyland. She began in the business at the age of 4 with commercial work and voice overs. Her first film was Private Parts (1997).
Hyland was diagnosed with kidney dysplasia as a young child and in April 2012 she undergo her first kidney transplant, donated by her dad Edward James Towards the end of 2016, the kidney began to fail, for reasons that are still unknown. Sarah then underwent dialysis three times a week - each for four hour sessions. It was in July 2017 she found out that her younger brother Ian was a match leading Sarah to a second kidney transplant in September of 2017, donated by her younger brother, Ian. Since birth she has undergone 16 surgeries to improve her health.
