Mary (not her real name) dropped out of school at age twenty to marry her first husband. She traded her parents’ care and for her husband’s love. At that time, she was very clear that her husband would go forth and conquer the world while she tended the home as wife, mother and the obedient daughter in law. Her husband worked in the property real estate and was quite successful.
Then, one day her husband told her that he had someone new and wanted to end their marriage which by then was already floundering, collapsed along with it. It was the final step in a long process of emotional disconnect and the dawning realization that her small world was collapsing. They had only been married for 2 years; going through the motions was very bad.
What can she say about her second marriage? In the beginning it was very sweet and she thought it will last her forever. But by year two, however, she knew her second marriage was in serious trouble. They started to sleep in different rooms. One day, he chased her out from their house saying he needed space, and he said despite they stayed under the same roof yet his feeling is not genuine towards her and that was why he asked her to move out. She was very sad and was afraid he will file for divorce, after she move out and by staying apart he might not need her in his life anymore.
