Does having the front and back doors aligned always cause problems in Feng Shui, or does it depend on the layout and remedies?

Thank you.

Feng Shui - A double frontage house

A double frontage house (with both a front and a back door directly aligned, or two doors facing opposite streets) is a common Feng Shui concern. Let’s break it down:

If front and back doors are aligned (straight through)

- This is generally considered inauspicious in classical Feng Shui.

- Energy (Qi) enters through the main door but quickly rushes out the back without being contained, like wind blowing through a tunnel.

- This can lead to instability, loss of wealth, or difficulties holding onto opportunities.

Remedies:

- Place a screen, partition, or tall plant between the two doors to slow and circulate Qi.

- Use rugs or artwork to create a visual "stop" so energy lingers.

- Keep one of the doors used less frequently (usually the back).

If the house has two "frontages" (faces two roads)

This can be good or bad depending on layout and landform:

- If the house sits between two roads (a “through lot”), it may suffer from Sha Qi (cutting Qi) if traffic flows quickly in front and behind.

- However, if both sides have supportive landforms (like protective walls, trees, or gentle roads), it can bring more opportunities and flexibility.

- Sometimes such homes are seen as "leaking Qi" if the main door and back door feel equally exposed.

Symbolism of two doors

- Two doors can represent divided energy or lack of stability in family matters.

- Feng Shui prefers a clear, strong Mouth of Qi (the main door) where energy enters steadily.

In short:

A double frontage house or aligned front-and-back doors is usually not ideal in Feng Shui unless Qi can be slowed and contained. The main remedy is to ensure the main door is clearly dominant and Qi is encouraged to circulate inside rather than rush through.
