I would like to continue from Lexter's question about the flagpole, if possible.

Does it count as Sha Qi as long as I can see the an odd sharp object from my house?

Does It Count as Sha Qi If I Can See Sharp Objects From My House?

Let’s take flagpole as an example, it can be any sharp object.

Not always. Simply being able to see a flagpole does not automatically mean it creates Sha Qi. In Feng Shui, Sha Qi from a flagpole depends on several factors:
  • Direct Alignment: If the flagpole is directly aligned with your main door or a large window, it can channel aggressive energy toward your home.

  • Distance: A flagpole that is far away, such as across the street, has a much weaker effect compared to one right in front of your entrance.

  • Buffering Elements: Trees, fences, or walls between the flagpole and your home can soften or block negative energy.
General Rule: If the flagpole is tall, sharp, and directly in front of your main entrance without any buffer, it is considered Sha Qi. Otherwise, its impact is minimal.

How Far Is Far Enough?

Generally Safe Distance:

If the flagpole is beyond one full property width from your main entrance, the effect is lessen, two full property is minimal.

Urban Areas:

If the flagpole is across the street and more than 15–20 meters (50–65 feet) away, it usually has little to no effect.

High-Rise or Open Spaces:

For apartments or large open areas, visual dominance matters more than exact distance. If the pole looks small and insignificant in view, the impact is minimal.

Rule of Thumb:
If the flagpole is close enough that it looks like it’s “aiming” at your door or windows, it can still cause Sha Qi. The further it appears visually and energetically, the weaker the impact.

So it's not as long as you can see it, it creates Sha Qi?

Correct — visibility alone does not create Sha Qi in Feng Shui. It’s about direction, alignment, and proximity, not just whether you can see the object.

No, just being able to see the flagpole doesn’t automatically mean it creates Sha Qi. What matters most is whether it is:

Directly aligned with your main door or a large window (acts like an arrow pointing at you).

Close enough to feel visually dominant and intrusive.

Sharp, tall, and unbuffered by trees, walls, or other structures.

Thank you Master for your explanation.

I live in a high-rise. When I am standing on the balcony, I can see a sharp, odd structure on my left-hand side. Is this considered Sha Qi?

Great scenario — here’s how Feng Shui interprets that:

If You Must Turn to See It, It’s Usually Weak or even Harmless

Not necessarily. Seeing a sharp or odd structure from your balcony does not automatically mean Sha Qi. In Feng Shui, Sha Qi becomes significant if:

It directly faces or points toward your main door, balcony, or main windows (like an arrow aiming at you).

It visually dominates your view, creating pressure or discomfort when you look out.

It’s very close and sharp, without any buffer like trees or other buildings.

If the structure is far away, to the side (not pointing at you), or softened by distance or greenery, the effect is usually minimal.

Rule of Thumb for High-Rises:

If you have to turn your head to see it, and it’s not pointing at your main living areas, it’s generally not considered harmful Sha Qi.

If you feel discomfort when looking out from your main view, then you might consider remedies.
