Feng Shui: Flagpole

Is a flagpole considered Sha Qi in Feng Shui? What if the flagpole belongs to a neighbor? Does it matter if the flagpole is not mine but still faces my house?

Is there any thing I can do?

Does Having a Flagpole in Front of Your House Create Sha Qi in Feng Shui?


Yes, a flagpole can create Sha Qi (煞气) in Feng Shui if positioned incorrectly. Sha Qi refers to sharp, aggressive, or harmful energy caused by structures that point toward your home, disrupting the flow of positive Qi.

Why Is a Flagpole Considered Sha Qi?


A tall, thin structure like a flagpole acts as a spear or arrow, symbolically piercing your property’s energy field.

When placed directly in front of your main door or window, it creates pressure and tension, which can affect:

• Health and well-being of occupants

• Financial stability

• Harmony in relationships

When Is It a Problem?


• Close proximity to the entrance or main window.

• Direct alignment with the center of the home or main door.

• No natural buffer (trees, plants, or fencing) to soften the impact.

How to Remedy It?


• Plant shrubs or small trees between the house and flagpole to break the line of Sha Qi.

• Best is to reposition the pole.

Quick Tip:
A flagpole far from the house or off to the side is generally not a major Feng Shui concern. The problem occurs only when it visually and energetically targets your main door.

It doesn’t matter who owns the flagpole. If it belongs to you, it’s no longer considered an issue—you can simply remove it.
