In Feng Shui, having a pillar directly in front of the main door is considered very inauspicious.

Here’s why:

Qi Obstruction: The main door is called the Mouth of Qi (气口). A pillar standing right in front blocks the natural flow of energy, preventing beneficial qi from entering smoothly.

Sha Qi (Killing Energy): The pillar creates a “piercing” effect, symbolizing pressure, obstacles, or burdens directly facing the household.

Psychological Impact: Even subconsciously, seeing a pillar the moment you enter gives a sense of restriction or “hitting a wall,” which can manifest as stalled progress in career, finances, or relationships.

Health Concerns: Prolonged exposure to this setup is said to affect residents’ health, often linked to chest, head, or stress-related issues (since qi cannot circulate freely).

Remedies (if relocation isn’t possible):

Shift or Reposition Entry – If feasible, adjust the main door slightly to avoid direct alignment.

Install a Screen or Divider – A decorative panel, plant wall, or water feature inside can redirect qi flow.

Mirrors (with care) – Sometimes mirrors are used to “expand space” and redirect qi, but they must be applied carefully (not reflecting the door directly).

Lighting & Movement – Adding light, plants near the entrance can help disperse stagnant energy.

Generally, a pillar directly in front of the main door is one of the classic Feng Shui taboos, similar to a tree blocking the entry.
