Dear Master Peter,

I have another concern, and it has been making me anxious for some time now.

When come to Feng Shui, it's bad to have a slight bump about 10 cm height before entering into the car porch?

Thank you,

In Feng Shui, even small physical features like a 10 cm bump or rise before the car porch can have meaning, depend on its shape, placement, and function.

General Feng Shui Considerations:

If the bump is

• Smooth and gently sloped → Generally okay, especially if it serves a functional purpose (like drainage).

• Too abrupt or sharp → Could create disruptive Qi, especially if it causes stumbling or discomfort while walking or driving.

Symbolically, a bump before entering can mean:

• Blockage or resistance before entering your space.

• Qi (energy) being interrupted or “bouncing” before reaching your main door or property.

• Financial or career obstacles (especially if it's in front of the main access area like your gate or porch).

Feng Shui Is Contextual:

Where is the bump located?

Directly in front of the main gate or main door? → More concerning.

Off to the side or near drainage? → Likely not a problem.

What is the main direction of the house?

This is important.
For example, if facing South 1 - 158°, external landform rules apply differently than if facing northeast.

Feng Shui Tips:

• Soften it – Add a gentle slope or paving to reduce abrupt Qi.

• Guide the Qi – Use plants, lighting, or curves to smooth energy flow toward your main door.

• Balance it – Ensure the rest of the front area is tidy, open, and inviting.

A 10 cm bump isn’t automatically bad, but if it looks or feels awkward, creates tripping hazards, or lies directly in the flow of Qi to your main entrance, it’s worth smoothing out or adjusting.

What is the main purpose of the bump? This is important.

Dear Master,

It is used to block water from entering the car porch, as the house is located on a slope.

Thank you.

Since the 10 cm bump is there to block water from flowing into your car porch (especially because your house is on a slope), here's what it means from a Feng Shui perspective:

Function over Form: It’s Acceptable

In Feng Shui, preventing water from rushing into your property is very important.

Water = wealth in Feng Shui — but rushing water into your home = chaotic or overwhelming energy (which may lead to financial instability, emotional stress, or health issues).

So this small bump acts as a protective feature, almost like a mini-skill energy barrier.

Slight bump = energy gatekeeping

It controls the flow of Qi (and water) — helping to keep excess, harmful, or fast-moving energy from entering your space too forcefully.

Make sure

The bump is well-maintained (no cracks).

It doesn’t become a tripping hazard or create visual heaviness at your entrance.

It’s part of a larger water diversion system (drainage channels, proper slope, etc.).

Make sure it’s smooth and not too abrupt – abrupt changes can block Qi if too harsh.

Keep the area clean and clear – stagnant water, moss, or clutter here can block positive flow.

Use support – place plants, or gentle curves near the entrance to soften and redirect energy.
