Feng Shui derived from experience. Take as an example,
the orientation of a house should allow ample air exchange, come in and settle
down, enough sun light but not that it heat or cools the interior too much. Other
like you will not want your house directly under or too near a hill or right
beside a river, when you can have land slide or flood. Many ancient Chinese
cities have the aforementioned characteristics. Then you turn these common
sense with some ancient Chinese philosophy based on Yin - Yang, landscapes, mountains and water and it becomes Feng
Shui.
Cheers.
